This position pays between $17.00 - $18.65/hr based on experience
The hours available are PRN - Per Diem, Weekend Overnights
This position is an onsite role and candidates must be able to work on-site
We are searching for the next Patient Access Specialist champion. This role is responsible for performing admitting duties for all patients admitted for services at the hospital. They are responsible for performing these functions while meeting the mission and goals of the organization and all regulatory compliance requirements. The Representative will work within the policies and processes as they are being performed across the entire organization.
Job Responsibilities
Perform admitting duties for all patients admitted for services at the hospital, meeting the mission and goals of the organization and regulatory compliance requirements; work within organizational policies and processes.
Assign accurate MRNs, complete medical necessity / compliance checks, provide patient instructions, collect insurance information, receive and process physician orders, and utilize an overlay tool while delivering excellent customer service as measured by Press Ganey.
Operate the telephone switchboard to relay calls and maintain professionalism and compassionate service; meet point of service goals.
Utilize quality auditing and reporting systems to ensure accounts are corrected; conduct audits and provide statistical data to Patient Access leadership.
Pre-register patient accounts prior to visits, including inbound/outbound calls to obtain demographic, insurance, and financial information; collect point of service payments and discuss payment plan options.
Explain general consent for treatment forms, obtain signatures, and witness where required.
Explain and distribute patient education documents and forms as applicable for future services.
Review eligibility responses in the insurance verification system and apply the correct insurance plan code; enter benefit data to support POS and billing processes to aid a clean claim rate.
Screen medical necessity using ABN software to inform Medicare patients of possible non-payment and distribute ABN and other forms as appropriate.
Experience
1+ years of customer service experience
Must be inquisitive and open to innovation including AI to improve processes and patient/client experiences
Required Education
High School Diploma/GED Required
Certification
CRCR Required within 6 months of hire (Company Paid)
