
Research Technician II - Social Science

Position Summary
The Research Technician will manage participant recruitment and data collection and analysis. They will be responsible for resolving study enrollment, task administration, and data collection and quality assurance issues across all phases of the project. When unusual conditions arise, the individual will consult with the supervisor about appropriate action.
Scheduled Hours
37.5 hours per week.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Administer electroencephalography (EEG) and fMRI scans for human subjects.
Manage and train undergraduate research assistants.
Recruit participants, schedule sessions, and manage files.
Process data, wrangle, and analyze.
Handle miscellaneous duties as assigned (e.g., task troubleshooting).
Provide compensation to research participants as specified in the research protocol.
Communicate daily with lab members to coordinate scheduling and training of undergraduates.
Communicate regularly with the PI and other research team staff, including multiple in-person meetings each week.
Collect behavioral and questionnaire data for a psychological research study. This position does not involve clinical research or patient information.
Maintain contact and communication with young and older adults from the community.
Working Conditions
Normal office environment.
EEG scanning duties performed on the Danforth campus.
Physical Effort
Typically sitting at a desk or table.
Equipment
Office equipment.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree.
Bachelor's degree, preferably in psychology or neuroscience.
Previous research experience.
Expertise with SPSS and/or R statistical programs and web programming.
Strong computer skills.
Ability to make initial decisions about issues that may prevent participants from completing a study.
Ability to problem‑solve when problems arise in task administration.
Strong organizational and planning skills.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills; must get along well with graduate students, postdocs, and undergraduate research assistants.
Ability to work independently and take initiative on a variety of projects and duties each day.
