Job Summary
Biomedical Tech I is an entry‑level position that provides a means of hiring individuals who possess the minimum educational requirements in the fields of electronics or Biomedical Technology but lack the practical job experience required for the Tech II position. This individual is capable of performing basic skilled work under close supervision.

Duties and Responsibilities

Assists with development of preventive maintenance procedures and conducts preventive maintenance inspections.

Records measurements taken during each preventive maintenance cycle.

Completes inventory and safety inspections of newly acquired equipment and annual safety inspections as required.

Notifies department managers when measurements reflect negative changes in equipment performance indicating a need for replacement or repair.

Completes all Medical Center required documentation, including detailed CM and PM work order histories in TMS regarding repairs.

Conducts corrective maintenance to basic biomedical equipment while building skills necessary to service more complex systems.

Selects and requisitions repair parts and maintains a manageable parts inventory.

Assists senior technicians during equipment installations.

Job Details and Requirements
Type: Full‑time, 80 hours per 2‑week pay period

Typical hours: Monday‑Friday, 8:00a‑4:30p

Education

Biomedical Equipment Technician Certificate and HS diploma or GED required.

Associate’s degree or 2‑year technical degree in biomedical equipment technology.

Associate’s degree or 2‑year technical degree in electronics technology.

B.S. degree with emphasis in biomedical equipment/electronics technology.

Certification & Licensures
N/A

Experience

Regarding the educational requirements listed above, no BMET or practical electronics equipment troubleshooting experience is required.

An individual lacking the educational requirements listed above may still be eligible provided they possess three (3) years of practical troubleshooting experience, two (2) of which have preferably been completed in the biomedical field.
