About The Position
The part‑time Clinical Support will assist in the delivery of excellent patient care management by performing routine clinical and administrative tasks to keep the office running efficiently.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
Take medical histories and vital signs
Reconcile medication lists
Explain treatment procedures to patients
Prepare patients for examination (in‑person and/or telehealth appointments)
Assist the physician during exams
Instruct patients about medication and special diets
Authorize prescription refills as directed
Stock examination rooms
Maintain instruments and prepare sterilization as required
Keep inventory of medications and supplies
Maintain all logs and required checks (e.g., refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen, cold sterilization fluid change, etc.)
Provide coverage for other MAs as needed
Other duties as assigned; travel may be required
Front Office Duties
Use computer applications
Answer telephones, take messages and provide feedback to patients, physicians and pharmacy
Greet patients and schedule appointments
Update and scan patient medical records
Coding and filling out insurance forms
Arrange for hospital admissions and laboratory services
Handle correspondence
Collect copays
Other duties and tasks as assigned
Pay Range
$21.00 – $25.00 per hour

Required Qualifications
Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Front and Back Office Medical Assistant
Medical Assistant Certification
Proficiency using EHR software applications
Bilingual in Spanish and/or Vietnamese
Experience using EPIC
Required Skills
Excellent verbal and written communication
Ability to provide excellent customer service
Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures
Use good reasoning and judgment and react appropriately in emergency situations
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and coworkers
Other Considerations
Background check required
Travel to other sites within San Diego County may be required

Tasks involve potential contact with blood, body fluids or tissues. Appropriate personal protective equipment is required. Use of standard office equipment (laptop, computer, mouse, photocopier) is routine.
