
CNC Lathe Machinist

Heroux‑Devtek, a global aerospace manufacturer, is seeking a CNC Lathe Machinist to operate precision machines in the production of aerospace and defense components at its Michigan facilities.
Role Overview
The CNC Lathe Machinist sets up and operates CNC machine tools that automatically drill and ream metal parts for the production of aerospace and defense components. The role includes adjusting machine feed and speed, changing cutting tools, or adjusting machine controls when automatic programming is needed.
Main Responsibilities
Machine precision ball screws, ball bearings, and other aerospace components.
Operate a manual or 3‑5 axis lathe or mill machine, including but not limited to: Mazak, Hardinge, LeBlond, Mori Sieki, Bridgeport, and more.
Process:
Select, measure, assemble, and set machine tools such as drill bits and milling or cutting tools using precision gauges and instruments.
Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and workpieces on the machine.
Calculate and set machine controls to position tools, regulate cutting depth, speed, feed, or coolant flow.
Position and secure workpiece on machine bed, indexing table, fixture, or dispensing or holding device.
Confers with supervisor or programmer to resolve machine malfunctions and production errors, obtaining approval to continue production.
Maintains machines and removes or replaces broken or worn machine tools using hand tools.
Follows all safety protocols, documentation requirements, and aerospace quality standards.
Candidate Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.
Vocational training or 3 years of CNC lathe experience.
Must meet security screening requirements as set out by ITAR directives.
