Position Summary:
Provides technical support in the delivery of pharmaceutical care to clients of MercyOne Central Iowa Medical Center. Technical support includes the preparation and delivery of medications and sterile products, stocking and ordering of drugs and other products. Technical work is performed under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
Shift
Monday-Thursday overnight shifts 8p-6:30a
What you will do:
Prepares medication orders.
Delivers medications and IV admixtures to patient rooms, critical care areas, and other ancillary areas.
Credits to the patient and restocks usable medications/IVs returned to the pharmacy.
Assists the pharmacists with audits and completes assigned unit inspections.
Restocks automated medication dispensing machines.
Restocks tackle boxes and cart inserts (crash carts, airway carts, latex carts), and completes check in/out process.
Communicates stock utilization and ordering needs.
Compounds and labels extemporaneous liquid and solid products for patients according to procedure.
Prepares IV admixtures including TPNs, chemotherapy IVs, IV piggybacks, and syringes following strictly described, specific policies and procedures.
Provides training and mentoring to new employees and assists in directing workflow as needed.
Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED when nationally certified through NHA.
PTCB nationally certified technicians do NOT require HS diploma or GED.
National Pharmacy Technician Certification and Registered with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy at time of hire and proof of.
Completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training for child and dependent adult abuse within three (3) months of hire.
Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
