Job Description

Under the direction of the Pharmacy Director, the Staff Pharmacist will work alongside Sterile and Non-Sterile Production Managers to ensure compliance with State and Federal Rules and Regulations regarding the preparation of sterile and non-sterile compounding preparations. The pharmacist will provide support to prescription dispensing personnel and operations, ensuring proper technique and accurate preparation. Additionally, patient care and counseling on compounded, prescription, and over-the-counter medications will be a key component of this role.

Responsibilities

Ensure compounded sterile and non-sterile preparations are accurate and compliant with master formula worksheets.
Ensure cleaning and garbing policies are performed according to company standards.
Perform calculations and complete necessary documentation.
Operate all production equipment accurately according to policies and procedures.
Utilize correct and appropriate aseptic techniques.
Thoroughly clean work areas prior to production.
Operate and monitor technical, computerized equipment to maintain quality standards.
Ensure the quality, purity, and potency of compounded medications.
Conduct quality control tests and inspections to verify the accuracy of compounded preparations.
Stay informed about new compounding techniques, formulations, and technologies.
Engage in continuous learning and professional development related to compounding pharmacy practices.
Ensure proper technique, accurate preparation, documentation, and compliance with applicable laws for all pharmaceutical products dispensed.
Adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures and Company policies outlined in the Employee Handbook.
Maintain the pharmacy’s licensure and accreditation related to compounding activities.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop appropriate compounded medications for patients.
Work closely with pharmacy technicians and other staff to efficiently fulfill prescriptions.
Participate in shipping and handling of prescription orders as needed.
Ensure prescription orders are processed according to prescribers' and patients' requirements.
Provide care by assessing patient demographics and maintaining patient medication histories.
Develop patient care plans, therapeutic care plans, and monitor patient outcomes.
Educate patients on and monitor drug therapy for appropriateness, dosage, regimen, and interactions.
Communicate effectively with patients, nurses, physicians, and co-workers to ensure prescription accuracy.
Counsel patients on OTC and prescription medications, as well as nutritional supplements.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree
PA License required
1+ years of experience in compounding
Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and The Compounder (PK software product)
QS-1 software knowledge preferred
Ability to use standard office equipment including photocopier, fax machine, and telephone
Knowledge of 3rd party billing

Work Environment

The position is based in a compounding pharmacy that is PCAB, ACHC, and URAC accredited. The work environment emphasizes the creation of custom medications for a variety of patients, including people, pets, horses, and zoo animals. The pharmacy is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-specific solutions while ensuring compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and other regulatory standards.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kennett Square, PA.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $70.00/hr.
