This well-established hospital provides comprehensive critical care services to the community with a robust 32-bed critical care unit encompassing SICU, MICU, CVCU, and CCU departments. The facility maintains strong support systems with mid-level staff assistance and offers excellent opportunities for critical care practice in a collaborative environment.
Opportunity:
Physician - Internal Medicine - Critical Care Medicine
Job Details:
• Provide consultative services for patients admitted to various ICU units including SICU, MICU, CVCU, and CCU
• Collaborate with hospitalists who serve as attending physicians while providing specialized intensivist expertise
• Manage 20-25 patient encounters per shift across 32 critical care beds
• Handle bedside procedures, ventilator management, and pulmonary/critical care related services
• Work schedule: Monday-Friday plus call coverage
• Call responsibilities include 24-hour coverage Friday-Sunday and weekday coverage starting at 5PM
• Average 2-3 phone consults, 5-7 admissions, and 20-25 patients seen per call shift
• Nurse practitioner assistance available for weekday patient rounding
• Preferred skills include ventilation management (invasive and non-invasive), bronchoscopy, central/arterial line insertion
• Additional preferred procedures: chest tube insertion, dialysis catheter placement, diagnostic taps
• ACLS and BLS certification required
• Alabama medical license required (IMLC not accepted)
• Credentialing timeframe approximately 45 days

Competitive hourly rates with weekly pay and malpractice included.
