
Licensed Practical Nurse- Cardiology

The Ambulatory Licensed Practical Nurse is a member of the collaborative interdisciplinary team. The LPN utilizes the care process consistent with their license and scope of practice.
The practice of nursing as an Ambulatory LPN involves performing tasks within case finding, reinforcing patient and family teaching through health teaching, counseling, and supportive care, under the direction of a Registered Nurse or licensed Physician. The RN is responsible for oversight of the interdisciplinary plan of care and ensuring consistency with the medical treatment plan.
Licensed care providers document objective and subjective findings and interventions, and administer all patient care activities according to standards, organizational policy, and procedural guidelines.
The LPN actively supports performance improvement initiatives through educational activities and assumes responsibility for continued professional and personal growth.
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Current licensure as LPN in the State of New Jersey and current BLSHCP.
Specialty Experience
Family Medicine / Urgent Care: 3–5 years clinical experience including pediatric experience required; strong organizational skills preferred.
Internal Medicine: 3–5 years clinical experience in medical/surgical required; strong organizational skills preferred.
Pediatric Pulmonary: 3–5 years pediatric nursing experience required; strong organizational skills preferred.
Trauma Outpatient: 3–5 years medical/surgical experience required; strong organizational skills preferred.
Clinic Services: 3–5 years clinical experience in medical/surgical required; strong organizational skills preferred.
Infectious Disease: 3–5 years clinical experience in medical/surgical required; strong organizational skills preferred.
Mission Services: 3–5 years clinical experience in medical/surgical required; strong organizational skills preferred.
Performance Expectations
Demonstrates the ability to perform the department specific competencies as listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.
Work Environment
Potential exposure to hazards and risks of the hospital environment, including infectious disease, blood‑borne pathogens, hazardous substances, and potential injury.
Extensive reaching, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
Extensive standing and walking.
Lifting approximately 25–50 pounds frequently.
Lifting approximately 50–100 pounds with assistance occasionally.
Pushing and pulling of heavy equipment.
Some departments require the ability to distinguish colors.
