is growing, and we’re looking for an experienced

Veterinary Assistant

to join our close-knit team in Portola Valley. Nestled among towering redwood trees in an animal-loving community, our hospital combines high-quality medicine with a supportive, down-to-earth culture.

In This Role, You Will

Support surgical and dental procedures from preparation through recovery, assisting with anesthesia, patient monitoring, and ensuring a smooth, efficient workflow

Manage treatment and exam room flow by preparing patients and equipment, gathering histories, obtaining TPRs, and anticipating the needs of the veterinary team

Independently carry out key clinical tasks such as venipuncture, radiology, laboratory sample collection and processing, and administering medications as directed

Maintain accurate medical records and serve as a key point of communication for clients, providing education, reviewing treatment plans, and delivering clear discharge instructions

This position is ideal for a Veterinary Assistant who is confident in their technical skills, takes initiative, and enjoys playing a central role in both patient care and the overall flow of the hospital.

Schedule
This is a full-time position with a 5/8 schedule scheduled Monday through Friday, with no late nights and no weekends!

Full-time benefits and compensation**

Compensation: $28-34 per hour, for each hour worked*

Bonus package: $500 for those with 3+ years of consecutive, current experience

Minimum Qualifications And Skill Set

5+ years of veterinary experience in a clinical setting

Proficiency in the following skills:

Venipuncture and placing IV catheters

Administering injections

Surgical prep and assistance

Anesthetic monitoring
