
Outpatient Clinic Therapist (LMHC or LCSW)

Responsibilities
Fort Lauderdale Behavioral Health Center is a 182‑bed, acute care psychiatric hospital located in the Oakland Park neighborhood of Fort Lauderdale, FL. The center offers inpatient acute care, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient programs for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors. Over 10,000 patients receive care each year.
As an Outpatient Clinic Therapist, you will perform clinical functions including: providing basic consultation, teaching, specialized social work services, crisis intervention, short‑term and long‑term family therapy, group therapy, and individual therapy as ordered. You will support patients with co‑occurring disorders, psychiatric disorders, substance abuse disorders, and other behavioral disorders.

Qualifications
Master’s Degree from an accredited school in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling
Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) required or equivalent
Experience
One year of experience in a behavioral health center or psychiatric counseling setting with adults and/or children, treating co‑occurring, mentally ill, or chemically dependent patients, and an understanding of cultural and linguistic diversity among patients
Licensure/Certification
CPR certification
Licensed as LCSW, LMHC, or LMFT (required)
Knowledge and Skills
Strong therapeutic skills and knowledge of therapeutic philosophies for group and individual treatment. Additional skills include:
Working knowledge of developmental stages
Minimal knowledge of community resources
Effective communication with patients of varied understanding
Strong assessment skills and the ability to intervene in a variety of situations
Sensitivity to diverse cultures and their practices
