Responsibilities
Fort Lauderdale Behavioral Health Center is a 182-bed, acute care psychiatric hospital located in the beautiful Oakland Park neighborhood of Fort Lauderdale, FL. FLBHC features individual units for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors, and offers inpatient acute care, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient programs. On average, over 10,000 patients receive care from our compassionate health care team each year at Fort Lauderdale Behavioral Health Center.

The Outpatient Clinic Therapist performs clinical functions including assisting patients in meeting their goals while enabling them to access, through therapeutic treatment skills to achieve their optimal level of emotional health, providing basic consultation, teaching, complete specialized clinical social work services for patients/families receiving care, crisis intervention, short‑term and long‑term family therapy, group therapy, providing information and referrals as needed, and individual therapy when ordered by an MD. Provides a variety of psychotherapeutic services including family and individual (adults and children) in an outpatient psychiatric behavioral health center setting. Patient(s) with co‑occurring disorders, psychiatric disorders, substance abuse disorders and other behavioral disorders.

Qualifications
Education/Training:

Master's Degree from accredited school in Social Work, or Mental Health Counseling.

Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) required or equivalent

Experience:

One (1) year of experience working in a Behavioral Health Center or psychiatric counseling setting with adults and/or children treating co‑occurring, mentally ill, or chemically dependent patients, with an understanding of co‑occurring disorders and cultural linguistic diversity amongst patients.

Licensure/Certification:

CPR certification

Licensed as LCSW, LMHC, LMFT- required.

Knowledge and Skills:

Strong therapeutic skills and knowledge of therapeutic philosophies (group and individual treatment skills).

Working knowledge of developmental stages

Some minimal knowledge of community resources

Ability to communicate effectively with patients with varied ability to understand.

Strong assessment skills and ability to intervene in a variety of situations.

Sensitive and aware of diverse cultures and their practices
