Grocery Buyer (Technical) - Food Labs

Position Overview
Regular student technical position in which the student will assist an instructor with preparation for food labs in Central Station Café. Requires a valid, unexpired driver’s license and a reliable personal vehicle.

Hours per Week
4 hours per week, maximum, Monday‑Friday.

Department
College of Education and Professional Studies, Human Environmental Sciences, Nutrition and Food Science, Food Lab.

Department Specific Job Functions

Use the personal vehicle to pick up groceries from Walmart, Sam’s Club, Crest, or other food establishments ordered by instructors.

Unpack and assort groceries for each class.

Take weekly inventory.

Complete other light duties as assigned.

Enrollment Requirements
Fall/Spring Semesters: All student employees must be enrolled at least half‑time (5 credit hours for graduates, 6 for undergraduates). International students must be enrolled full‑time (9 credit hours for graduates, 12 for undergraduates).

Summer Semester: Regular student positions require at least 3 credit hours. Students not enrolled in summer classes must be enrolled in fall classes; the department will pay FICA taxes. FWSP positions require a minimum of 6 credit hours (undergraduate) or 5 (graduate).

Enrollment Exception: If the number of credit hours required to graduate is less than the minimum for employment, the student must obtain a letter from their Academic Advisor stating the number of hours needed to graduate and the anticipated graduation date and submit it to Human Resources.

Qualifications / Experience Required

Valid, unexpired driver’s license.

Reliable transportation/vehicle.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Sensitivity to intercultural communication.

Good interpersonal skills.

Ability to lift 20 lbs.

Detail oriented.

Dependable.

Punctual.
