Position Summary
The Sterile Processing (SP) Technician performs decontamination, cleaning, inspection, assembly, sterilization, and storage of reusable surgical instrumentation.
What You Will Do
Clean, inspect, and package surgical instruments and specialty sets in accordance with OSHA, The Joint Commission, and Saint Alphonsus regulations.
Operate sterilization equipment (cart washer, washer disinfectors, steam sterilizers, heat sealers, Sterris machines).
Prepare surgical case carts and respond to requests for instrumentation and/or supplies for surgical procedures.
Order and restock the surgery department with supplies and instruments.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
CRCST or CSPDT preferred.
Prior experience in a hospital setting preferred.
Orientation and Training
General orientation is virtual and in-person during the first week.
Assigned a preceptor for training in decontamination, cleaning, reassembly, and sterilization (one to two weeks in each area).
Training scheduled Monday–Friday; accommodate shift if staffing allows.
