Job Overview
This position serves as a leader in the provision of patient care using the nursing process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses, and Scope & Standards of Practice. The incumbent delegates, directs, and assists licensed and ancillary team members, assumes accountability for quality patient outcomes, and demonstrates professional responsibility and accountability for their own practice.
Education
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (required)
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (preferred)
Work Experience
None required
Certifications
Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice (required)
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (required)
Certification in clinical specialty area (preferred)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications
Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally
Strong interpersonal skills
Good organizational and time‑management skills and ability to be self‑directed
Ability to demonstrate good judgment
Job Duties
Effectively use the nursing process in the delivery of patient care
Assess learning needs and implement teaching strategies appropriate for diverse patient, family, and interdisciplinary groups
Communicate, delegate, and manage nursing team resources (human and fiscal) and serve as a leader and partner on the interdisciplinary team
Use data, information, and knowledge to evaluate and promote change in order to achieve optimal outcomes
Embrace concepts and behaviors that enhance customer satisfaction and employee morale and improve the profession of nursing
Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, ensuring respect for privacy, appropriate introduction, and clear communication of services or procedures
Perform other related duties as required
Physical and Environmental Demands
Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally or 25 to 50 pounds frequently, and 10 to 20 pounds constantly to move objects. Duties require exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissues. Occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous medications or waste may exist.
