Position Overview:
- ️ ️ Role: Family Medicine Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA)
- Location: Allegheny County Jail, Pittsburgh, PA
- ️ Schedule:
- Thursday Saturday, 6 PM 6 AM
- Every other Wednesday, 6 PM 6 AM
- Overtime available after 80 hours per 2-week period
- Minimum commitment: 2 weeks/month (full-time strongly preferred)
- ️ Credentialing timeframe: days; provider may work during credentialing
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess individuals entering the jail during night shifts
- Provide initial treatment for acute and chronic medical conditions
- Supervise initiation of detox treatment for newly incarcerated individuals by substance use specialist nurses
- Evaluate and manage urgent or emergent medical issues as they arise
- Maintain accurate documentation in TechCare EMR
Requirements & Certifications:
- Active Pennsylvania license
- Board Certified in Family Medicine
- Night shift experience strongly preferred
- Required certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Pennsylvania DEA Certification
