Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit Occupational Therapist PRN

Evaluation and treatment of patients who have difficulty performing daily tasks due to physical, emotional, cognitive, and/or psychosocial conditions.

Minimum Qualifications

Current or temporary Occupational Therapist Licensure as required by the state where services will be performed.

MD: Occupational Therapist License or Temporary License through the Maryland Board of Occupational Therapy Practice.

OH: Occupational Therapist License through the Ohio Board of Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Athletic Training.

PA: Occupational Therapist License or Temporary License through the Pennsylvania Department of State.

WV: Occupational Therapist License or Limited Permit through the West Virginia Board of Occupational Therapy.

Obtain Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire date.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

Provide coordinated and comprehensive patient care including assessment, expected outcomes, rehabilitation interventions and evaluation within an interdisciplinary team approach.

Evaluate patient needs and develop and implement treatment programs to identify, prevent, and minimize physical disabilities and/or pain; determine and revise priorities for direct or indirect patient care based on need and resources; collaborate with nursing to update safe patient handling algorithms.

Document all treatments per department policies and procedures; ensure accuracy of charges for services rendered via the billing system in the patient’s EMR.

Oversee supervision of COTAs, students, and volunteers.

Participate in education and training of staff, students, patients, and family members to assure appropriate delivery of care and mission alignment.

Complete annual required education related to specialty accreditation, including CBLs, trainings, in‑services, and competency validation.

Physical Requirements

Minimize manual lifting of patients; no more than 35 pounds with lift equipment or patient handling aids.

Handle heavy or hard work involving lifting, moving, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, and carrying materials and equipment weighing 40+ lbs.

Maintain specific vision abilities: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

Working Environment

Exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids, and chemicals used in cleaning and laundry.

Skills and Abilities

Organize and prioritize time and tasks to coordinate work effort and meet schedules; integrate multiple factors impacting patient care.

Additional Job Description
Will be expected to provide weekend and holiday coverage as needed.
