Intern - Veterinary Assistant Schedule: Up to 28 hours/week, variable

What You'll Do
You'll support daily operations inside the shelter clinic—assisting with medical care, surgery prep, recovery monitoring, and maintaining a clean, safe environment for animals and staff.
Key Responsibilities
Clean, sterilize, and prepare surgical instruments, packs, and equipment
Assist with surgery prep, anesthesia support, and post‑op recovery monitoring
Maintain clean, stocked surgical suites, cages, and workspaces
Support routine medical procedures, lab work, and animal triage
Accurately document care, treatments, and intake using shelter systems
What You Bring – Education & Experience
At least 16 years old
Interest in veterinary medicine, animal care, or related field
Ability to follow instructions, stay organized, and work independently
Strong communication skills and professionalism with staff and public
Preferred Certifications
None required
Technical Skills & Knowledge
Basic understanding of medical or lab environments (helpful but not required)
Ability to learn equipment such as autoclaves and diagnostic tools
Comfortable using databases and tracking systems
