
Nurse Practitioner Pediatric Hospitalist

SUMMARY:
The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant will be an integral member of the Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine at Hasbro Children’s caring for infants, children and adolescents admitted to the Pediatric Hospital Medicine (PHM) service. Working alongside a pediatric hospitalist attending, the Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant will provide comprehensive pediatric care to patients admitted to the hospital from admission through discharge. Typical diagnoses range from asthma and pneumonia to complex care management of children with unique health challenges. Additional management of subspecialty patients will be included. Close collaboration within an interdisciplinary team including social work, case management, child life, and pediatric subspecialty teams are required to serve this vulnerable group of patients. The position is primarily a daytime role with a combination of weekdays and weekends.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage a caseload of hospitalized patients with teams of APPs, residents, and supervising attendings.
Engage in educational collaborations with medical students, residents, and other NP/PA students, as appropriate.
BASIC KNOWLEDGE:
Master of Science Degree or Graduate of accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
Certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS)
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
Demonstrates outstanding communication skills, clinical care competency, and ability to work well in teams.
Demonstrates advanced physical and psychosocial assessment skills and knowledge of family dynamics.
EXPERIENCE:
Two years related pediatric experience in acute care hospital setting and preferred 1-2 years' experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, and will also consider new graduates. We are seeking individuals who value teamwork and appreciate the pace and acuity of inpatient care.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
General hospital environment with occasional stressful conditions associated with patient care.
INDEPENDENT ACTION:
Responds to individual patient-care situations demonstrating knowledge and skills acquired through education, certification and work experience.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Aid with orientation of new hires into work flow.
Pay Range:
$127,504.00-$161,782.40
