Obstetrics & Gynecology Physician

Locum - Physician - OB/GYN Petersburg, VA

Required Skills:

• Valid medical license in Virginia or ability to obtain expedited credentials
• Proven experience in obstetrics and gynecology procedures
• Proficiency with EMR systems, specifically EPIC
• Ability to perform C-sections, vaginal deliveries, suction D&C, management of ectopic pregnancies, ovarian torsion, and abnormal bleeding
• Excellent clinical judgment and patient management skills
• Strong communication skills and teamwork-oriented approach

Nice to Have Skills:

• Previous locum or temporary staffing experience
• Familiarity with high-risk obstetrics in collaboration with MFM specialists
• Bilingual abilities to serve a diverse patient population
• Experience with hospitalist collaboration and multi-disciplinary teams

Preferred Education and Experience:

• MD or DO degree with board certification in OB/GYN
• Minimum of 3 years clinical practice in obstetrics and gynecology
• Prior hospital-based practice experience preferred

Other Requirements:

• Willingness to work hospital/Call coverage and potentially clinic shifts
• Ability to cover multiple dates from May through July, with flexibility for ongoing assignments
• Comfortable working in a hospital with 9 L&D beds and 20 postpartum beds
• Must pass credentialing process, with background and malpractice review completed within 60-90 days; temporary approval may be granted upon meeting criteria
• Local candidates preferred; travel reimbursement options available
