Job Summary
Bloomberg Philanthropies Healthcare Education High School interns will support daily operations in a healthcare environment while gaining exposure to various departments. This role is observational and nonclinical, focused on professional skill‑building, teamwork, and learning how healthcare systems function.
Requirements
Currently enrolled at Hawthorne Academy of Health Sciences (typically ages 16–18).
Interest in healthcare careers and willingness to learn.
Ability to follow instructions, work in teams, and maintain confidentiality.
Basic computer and communication skills.
Successful completion of required onboarding (e.g., orientation, safety training, health clearances per facility policy).
Parent/guardian consent if under 18.
Major Responsibilities
Follow all hospital policies, including safety, confidentiality, and infection prevention.
Assist with basic administrative tasks such as organizing materials, de‑identified data entry, filing, and preparing supplies.
Assist with research projects, data analysis, and/or creating various reports.
Shadow staff members to learn about clinical and operational workflows.
Participate with the team in training, check‑ins, and assigned learning activities.
Maintain professional behavior, punctuality, and communication at all times.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Ability to stand and walk for periods of time.
Work may occur in clinical, office, or simulation settings.
