Responsibilities
Floats to departments as assigned and accepts assignments and duties with a professional approach so that patient hand off is done without interruption of care
Performs routine physical/psychosocial assessment to collect basic data: follows the written plan of care, standards, practice guidelines, utilizes pathways, which includes notifying physicians as appropriate
Formulates a plan of care for individual needs, including patient population needs. Participates in the planning of routine transitional health care needs (i.e. treatment options, patient placement options)
Adapts planned educational programs and information to individual patients and family by modifying teaching strategies or content. Integrates education during the delivery of patient care
Ensures efficiency in the delivery of care to determine immediate priorities and to offer solutions for problems
Makes independent clinical decisions based on knowledge drawn from education and experience
The incumbent is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for a patient assignment through therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, and other health care team members. The incumbent as a member of the health care team appropriately assists team members in providing holistic care to patients and their support systems with an awareness of cost containment and time management. The incumbent will float to multiple units within the hospital possibly multiple times per shift based upon the incumbent's skills and competencies as determined by the Nursing Supervisor or the Staffing Office.
The incumbent will float to Pediatrics, Post Partum, Cardiac Tele, Neuro Tele, Medical Acute, Surgical Acute, Ortho Acute and Oncology Acute within the hospital, possibly multiple times per shift based upon the incumbent's skills and competencies as determined by the Nursing Supervisor or the Staffing Office.
Job Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
1-year consecutive recent (within the last five years) Cardiac Telemetry experience or higher level critical unit experience. May train when operational considerations allow
Associates Degree in Nursing
Ability to work in diverse areas
Current California RN license
Current BLS ACLS PALS and NRP. If a candidate does not have PALS and/or NRP it must be obtained within 6 months of hire/transfer.
Verbal and written communication and computer skills
Completion of a basic dysrhythmia course
Preferred Qualifications:
BSN
