Job Title: Carpenter
Location: Tallahassee, FL
Employment Type: Regular, Full‑Time
Responsibilities
Build, erect, install, and repair forms, structures, and fixtures made from wood and other materials for construction projects.
Install and repair kitchen cabinets, vanities, shelving units, and other general carpentry duties.
Repair furniture such as tables and chairs; install or replace doors and hardware.
Use hand and power tools to construct assigned projects securely.
Assist other trades (locksmiths, plasterers, painters) as needed.
Operate vehicles to transport supplies campus‑wide and perform skilled maintenance work; load and unload equipment and materials.
Review plans and work orders to ensure correct scope of work and document tasks and material orders on departmental forms.
Follow safety rules, maintain safe and clean work sites, move materials around the job‑site, and clean up debris.
Maintain security of equipment, supplies, and vehicles; keep hand and power tools in working order and report maintenance issues to the supervisor.
Organize and keep shop areas clean; prepare requests for materials and supplies.
Perform additional maintenance and supervise helpers with tasks such as minor plaster, sheet‑rock repairs, and replacement of floor tiles, ceramic tiles, and damaged carpet campus‑wide.
Qualifications
High school diploma and at least two years of carpentry experience, or post‑secondary education plus equivalent experience.
Valid State of Florida or Georgia driver’s license (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire).
