Mental Health Technician/Specialist (MHT/MHS)
$3,200 sign‑on bonus for Full‑Time

Shift Schedule
1st Shift: 7:00am-3:30pm
2nd Shift: 3:00pm-11:30pm
3rd Shift: 11:00pm-7:30am
All MHTs are required to work every other weekend
Hired candidates must commit to a 2‑week new employee orientation, approx. 9:30am-5:30pm each day, Monday‑Friday
Part‑time and PRN positions do not qualify for sign‑on bonus or benefits
Job Overview
Liberty Point Behavioral Healthcare is located in Staunton, Virginia and provides trauma‑informed psychiatric residential treatment to adolescent males with complex emotional, behavioral, and educational difficulties. Programs are designed for youth with psychiatric disorders and co‑occurring intellectual disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder. The facility has 42 beds and prepares participants for return to a home, a less restrictive environment, or independent living.
This is a challenging population; therefore, we strive to create a safe and supportive environment that puts patient care first and values the clinical professions. The team‑based environment includes clinical staff, case management, nurses, doctors, educators, leadership, and direct care personnel.
Responsibilities
Provide direct supervision and care for intellectually disabled adolescents in a residential setting.
Guide residents in daily living skills, adapting instructions to varying ability levels.
Implement positive and appropriate interventions, limit‑setting, response, problem‑solving, and guidance as needed.
Maintain effective, accurate, and legible documentation promptly.
Follow through with resident treatment plans and interventions consistently.
Respond to residents in a caring, mature manner while maintaining professional boundaries.
Serve as a role model for residents and other staff.
Assist in managing aggressive behavior.
Qualifications
At least 21 years of age.
High School Diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Services field preferred.
Valid driver’s license with a clean record (preferred).
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds; use full range of motion (sit, bend, kneel, or stand >1 hour when needed).
Reflect appropriate behavior, attitude, and appearance aligned with facility philosophy.
Complete Handle With Care, Verbal De‑escalation, and Crisis Intervention training.
Perform First Aid, CPR, and HWC techniques (training provided during orientation).
