Job Title: Carpenter / Wood Framer
Job Description
Aerotek is hiring immediately! This role focuses on wood framing for large-scale commercial construction projects, including multi-family and other commercial structures. You will perform hands‑on carpentry work such as framing, trimming, cutting, and nailing wood, contributing to the structural integrity and quality finish of each project. The position suits individuals who bring a strong work ethic, are eager to learn, and can collaborate effectively with diverse teams on active construction sites. Responsibilities
Perform wood framing for large-scale commercial projects, including multi‑family and other commercial buildings.
Execute precise cutting, trimming, and nailing of wood materials according to project plans and specifications.
Build and install stair and rafter systems, ensuring accurate measurements and secure construction.
Work with pre‑fabricated wall panels and trusses, including handling, positioning, and fastening them in place.
Assist with commercial wood framing tasks from layout through completion, following drawings and instructions from site leadership.
Support general construction activities on site as needed, including material handling and site preparation.
Use and maintain personal hand tools safely and effectively, including tape measure, speed square, chalk line, cat paw, framing hammer, and related tools.
Follow all site safety procedures and guidelines while working on active construction sites.
Collaborate with team members, including bilingual crews, to complete tasks efficiently and maintain project schedules.
Demonstrate reliability by arriving on time, being prepared with required tools and gear, and completing assigned tasks consistently.
Essential Skills
Hands‑on experience with wood framing in a construction environment, ideally on commercial or multi‑family projects.
General construction knowledge, including basic understanding of building components and construction processes.
Ability to perform carpentry tasks such as framing, cutting, trimming, and nailing wood with accuracy.
Experience with commercial construction sites and familiarity with site practices and expectations.
Capability to read measurements accurately and use tools such as a 25 ft tape measure, speed square, and chalk line.
Strong work ethic with the ability to work extended hours when necessary to meet project demands.
Willingness to learn new methods, accept challenges, and adapt to different tasks on the job.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team, including on bilingual crews, while following direction and communicating clearly.
Reliable transportation to travel to various job sites as required.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Work with stair and rafter cutting on commercial or residential projects.
Experience working with pre‑fabricated wall panels and trusses.
Previous exposure to multi‑family framing and commercial wood framing projects.
Experience in finish carpentry or roofing work.
Comfort working in general labor roles on construction sites in addition to carpentry tasks.
Ownership of basic hand tools, including work boots, tool belt, chalk line, 25 ft tape measure, speed square, cat paw, and framing hammer.
