This role involves loading and setting up parts, monitoring production, performing detailed inspections, and maintaining accurate production records in a fast-paced, high-tech manufacturing environment. Day shift typically runs Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., while night shift generally runs Monday through Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. and Friday from 3:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate EDM (electro-discharge machining) equipment, including conventional EDM machines and 5-axis EDM machines, to produce precision aerospace turbine engine parts and cooling holes.

Load and set up parts in the machine according to job specifications, ensuring correct fixturing, alignment, and program selection.

Monitor machines while orders are running and inspect parts for quality throughout the production process to minimize scrap of high-value components.

Perform detailed quality inspections using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision measurement tools to verify that parts meet specified tolerances.

Interpret and work from blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions to ensure parts are produced to specification.

Troubleshoot and resolve minor machine issues and defects, making adjustments as needed to maintain part quality and machine performance.

Set up, switch, and change over jobs as required, following established procedures and training to ensure efficient transitions between orders.

Prepare and maintain production logs and travelers to document machine operation, part counts, inspection results, and daily production activity.

Strive to achieve and maintain more than 98% production efficiency on a daily basis while upholding strict quality standards.

Operate various types of EDM equipment, which may include water-based, oil-based, or wire EDM machines, many of which are customized and based on Haas platforms.

Handle and care for expensive aerospace parts with a strong focus on quality and detail to reduce scrap and rework.

Use basic computer skills to access programs, enter data, and complete production or inspection documentation.

Lift and move materials and parts weighing up to 50 pounds as needed to support production.

Follow all safety procedures, including the proper use of required personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintain a clean and organized work area.

Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding production status, quality concerns, and equipment issues.

Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis.

Ability to work in confined spaces as required by certain machine setups and operations.

Willingness to complete required eligibility and compliance documentation, including providing identification and completing necessary forms.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Previous EDM operating experience, including conventional, sinker, or wire EDM, is a strong plus.

Experience in the aerospace industry or with aerospace-quality standards is highly desirable.

Experience in CNC machining, CNC setup, and CNC programming, including familiarity with G-code, is beneficial.

Experience with Haas, Mazak, or Fanuc-controlled machines is an advantage.

Knowledge of grinding, tooling, and general machining practices supports success in this role.
