The New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute provides care to New Mexicans across six different divisions including hospital level inpatient psychiatric care for both civil and forensic commitments, residential treatment for adolescents, outpatient care for people with behavioral health disorders, detox and residential substance use treatment, and skilled/long‑term care. As the largest behavioral health complex in the state, inpatient/residential care is provided to over 250 New Mexicans every day, along with 400 outpatient clients a month. There are over 600 employees across all the divisions of NMBHI to ensure high‑quality treatment and care is delivered.
Salary
$35.37 – $53.05 Hourly
$73,568 – $110,352 Annually
This position is a Pay Band C10
Responsibilities
Provide nursing care to meet the needs of patients in the Adult Psychiatric Division/CARE.
Direct guidance to direct care staff and implement nursing activities toward common hospital goals.
Administer all types of medications, including oral and injectable, to relieve anxiety, control behavior, and treat physical problems.
Perform treatments ordered by physicians to assure patient's optimal physical and mental well‑being.
Ideal Candidate
Experience caring for the mentally ill.
Experience in providing comprehensive nursing care.
Experience in administration of all types of medications.
Must be licensed in accordance with the Nursing Practice Act Sections 61‑3‑2 through 61‑3‑31 NMSA 1978 and 16.12.1 through 16.12.20 NMAC, as applicable.
Minimum Qualification
Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico, or eligibility for such licensure.
Three (3) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification.
Employment Requirements
Valid Driver's License.
Defensive Driving Certificate.
Safe‑sensitive position: subject to pre‑employment and random testing, alcohol and/or drug testing, nationwide criminal background checks, and conditional pending results.
Successful completion of HIPAA training.
