
Supervisor II - Stormwater Services Mowing Crew

About the Role
This is a primarily field-based position, approximately 75% field, leading crews in the field while also performing essential administrative and planning work. As a vital member of the Stormwater Operations Group, you will supervise staff performing vegetation control maintenance, mowing, landscaping, weed removal, invasive weed removal, brush, and tree removal. Work is performed outdoors in all types of weather conditions and in aquatic environments.
What you will be doing
Managing multiple crews that maintain stormwater facilities to ensure proper function as designed and within time frames dictated by permitting and complying with prescribed maintenance standards.
Administrative tasks pertaining to staff, logging and tracking hours, distributing work, supervising work, training in equipment use, and safety training tracking.
Managing all equipment, tracking equipment purchase, use and maintenance.
Maintaining stormwater facilities by mowing, clearing, and removing brush, weeds, invasive weeds, trees and other debris.
Safely operating and maintaining equipment and vehicles such as weed eaters, power blowers, push mowers, remote mowers, trucks, trailers and other small landscaping equipment.
Working with other Section, Division and Department teams to improve efficiency of veg control and mowing, including space planning and cross-divisional or departmental coordination of work orders.
Communicating effectively between program stakeholders including members of the public.
Other facility maintenance duties as assigned.
Qualifications You Bring
A Bachelor's degree in natural resources management or similar; OR equivalent of 5 years’ experience working in a field similar to natural resources management.
Five years’ experience working in maintenance and operations of stormwater assets or municipal assets (roads, drainage, nature resources or utilities, etc.).
Five years’ experience leading teams.
Effective communication of technical details in a clear and concise manner to diverse audiences.
Commitment and understanding of equity and a demonstrated skill in establishing and maintaining work relationships with a diverse group of people.

Ability to work on uneven slopes, surfaces, grades and terrain in inclement weather and other adverse conditions while carrying equipment up to 50 lbs.
Ability to trailer equipment safely.

The Supervisor II position for Stormwater Services Mowing Crew is primarily field‑based, working approximately 75% in the field and 25% in a hybrid model. The primary onsite location is 155 Monroe Ave NE, Renton, WA 90856. Employees must reside in Washington State and be within a reasonable distance to King County worksites to meet onsite reporting requirements.
Work Location
The primary onsite location is 155 Monroe Ave NE, Renton, WA 90856. Crew members will report daily to this address unless an alternative location is approved by the Supervisor/Manager.
Work Schedule
This full‑time position works a 40‑hour work week. This position is covered under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is not overtime eligible.
