Permanent Physician Assistant Cardiothoracic Surgery

Position Details:

Patient Population: Adult cardiothoracic and cardiovascular surgery patients
Setting: Hospital (OR, ICU/CVICU, floor, clinic)

Responsibilities:

• Provide perioperative cardiothoracic surgical care
• First assist in cardiac surgeries
• Perform endoscopic vein harvesting (Maquet-Getinge system)
• Manage ICU/CVICU and post-surgical patients
• Conduct rounding and patient evaluations
• Participate in 2 full clinic days weekly
• Rotate through OR coverage Monday Friday
• Order and interpret labs/diagnostics
• Develop care plans and prescribe medications
• Perform bedside procedures
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary cardiac surgery team

Required Procedures:

• Endoscopic vein harvesting
• First assisting in cardiothoracic surgery
• Bedside procedures

EMR System: Not specified

Support Staff: Cardiac surgeons, physicians, intensivists, multidisciplinary care team

Days Per Month: Full-time schedule
On-Call/Weekends:

• 1:4 5 weekday call
• 1:4 5 weekend call
• In-house overnight coverage (8:30pm 6:30am)

Submission Requirements:

• Master s degree in Physician Assistant Studies
• NCCPA (PA-C) certification
• Minimum 3+ years cardiac/cardiovascular surgery experience with ICU management
• Experience with endoscopic vein harvesting and first assisting
• Active Colorado license
• DEA
• BLS (AHA or ARC)
• Full prescriptive authority
• NPDB self-query (within 30 days)
• No sanctions/exclusions
