Overview
As the Operations Manager, you will be a key member of the management team, responsible for overseeing daily terminal operations and ensuring the efficient delivery of services. This role supports the Terminal & Vessel Operations Manager and plays a crucial part in achieving business objectives.

Job Description
What you’ll do
Operational Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and efficiency standards to meet both company and customer expectations.

Develop, implement, and maintain standardised work practices, ensuring consistent adherence across all operational processes.

Collaborate with the Manager – Terminal and Vessel Operations and customer representatives to establish accurate and meaningful KPIs, clearly communicating these metrics to the team.

Apply industrial engineering principles to operations, utilising data analysis, time, method and motion studies, tool selection, production scheduling, lean‑thinking, and visual management techniques.

Lead continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing cost efficiency, quality, lead time, and productivity for both the company and its customers.

Maintain strong client relationships founded on trust and transparency.

Prepare and deliver reports, dashboards, and presentations to fulfil internal and customer requirements.

Oversee the financial profitability of your department, ensuring sustainable business operations.

Develop and articulate key value propositions for current and prospective clients.

Ensure all fleet and equipment are properly maintained and operational, proactively seeking greener and more sustainable solutions.

Leadership Responsibilities

Provide clear direction and guidance to operational teams, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

Promote and embody the organisation’s values, setting an example for employees through professional conduct and integrity.

Drive change initiatives and support the implementation of new processes, ensuring effective communication and engagement throughout the team.

Encourage innovation and proactive problem‑solving, empowering staff to contribute ideas and take ownership of their work.

Develop and maintain strong working relationships across departments, collaborating with other managers to achieve organisational goals.

People Management Responsibilities

Lead, motivate and develop team members, ensuring high levels of engagement, performance and morale.

Conduct regular performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and identify training or development needs.

Manage recruitment, onboarding and induction processes for operational staff, ensuring a smooth transition for new team members.

Handle employee relations matters, including resolving conflicts and supporting staff wellbeing.

Monitor attendance, manage rotas and oversee workforce planning to ensure adequate coverage and efficiency.

Encourage professional development and career progression, supporting staff to reach their full potential within the organisation.

Job Requirements
What you’ll need

Excellent IT skills, especially Microsoft Office.

Accurate and consistent use of company systems for daily operations management.

Effective record keeping and workflow facilitation.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Effective teamwork and cross‑functional collaboration abilities.

Recruitment and talent acquisition expertise.

Fluent English language skills required.

Full clean UK driving licence.
