Project Manager
This Project Manager position supports applied research in mine land reclamation focused on improving plant establishment on degraded soils. The role combines hands‑on work in greenhouse plant propagation, soil microbial development (e.g., mycorrhizal fungi), and coordination of field and laboratory research activities. It directly supports student training and research productivity while helping develop practical, science-based solutions for restoration.
What You’ll Do In This Position
Support daily research and operational activities in both laboratory and field settings
Coordinate site access and safety compliance, maintaining training records and ensuring required certifications are current
Assist students and faculty with field and lab research, including data collection and study implementation
Manage greenhouse operations, including plant propagation, irrigation, fertilization, and pest control
Support the development of soil microbial propagation methods (e.g., mycorrhizal fungi)
Assist with experimental design and protocol development
Help identify soil amendments to improve plant establishment on degraded sites
Required
A firm commitment to the mission of BYU.
Bachelor's degree in a natural resource, environmental science, or microbiology.
2+ years of experience conducting field and laboratory studies using soil microbes.
Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints must hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend.
Preferred
Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) certified.
