
Trade Operations Manager, NAM, AWS Compliance & Security Assurance

Amazon Web Services (AWS) Security is seeking a Trade Operations Manager, NAM to join the Global Trade and Product Compliance (GTPC) organization to support import and export operational compliance across the United States and Canada. This position will be based out of an Amazon corporate office in the US and requires the ability to travel periodically.
In this role, you will build and maintain compliance monitoring frameworks while collaborating with AWS teams across Security, Datacenter Operations, Procurement, Supply Chain, Legal, Tax, Finance, and other internal and external stakeholders to execute trade compliance programs and initiatives. You will support programs such as special trade preference programs (e.g., USMCA), trade classification processes, and customs broker partner management. This position reports to the NAM Regional Trade Compliance Manager within GTPC.
Key job responsibilities
Operate cross-functionally to identify process optimization and automation opportunities.
Build data and reporting standards that drive trade compliance accuracy and consistency.
Generate efficiencies through SOP development and customer mechanisms.
Monitor regulatory changes – Track import/export regulatory updates impacting NAM cross-border requirements and communicate guidelines to stakeholders.
Manage daily compliance operations – Provide import/export compliance guidance, coordinate with customs brokers and third-party providers, and manage team deliverables.
Perform trade classification & tariff analysis – Classify technology, hardware, and software using HTS, Schedule B, and ECCN. Analyze tariffs and support mitigation plans.
Ensure import documentation compliance – Review documents for accuracy, support entry filing, monitor shipment status, and resolve import holds.
Build compliance monitoring frameworks – Develop audit and reporting frameworks, conduct self‑assessments, and implement corrective actions.
Drive process improvement & automation – Identify optimization opportunities, build data standards, and enhance trade compliance systems.
Maintain operational procedures – Document and update SOPs, work instructions, and process revisions.
Manage cross‑functional relationships – Partner with Supply Chain, Procurement, Finance, Tax, Legal, and Trade Operations to close process gaps.
Deliver compliance training – Build training and communication plans for internal and external partners; maintain training records.
Track & report performance metrics – Generate metrics on compliance accuracy, transit time, broker performance, and cost for leadership reporting.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
2+ years of data analysis using tools such as Excel, Pivot Tables, SQL, Tableau, or equivalent experience.
3+ years of experience in import/export compliance, with foundational knowledge of U.S. and Canada trade regulations.
Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams such as engineering, supply chain, or procurement.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field.
Experience in Trade Compliance and/or Supply Chain, such as customs operations, compliance specialist, or customs agent roles.
Experience with Tariff Management & Mitigation processes, including Section 232/301 strategies.
Experience performing trade classifications (HTS codes, ECCNs, and Country of Origin).
Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) or Certified Export/Compliance Specialist (CES/CCS) credential through NCBFAA's NEI Programs, or equivalent trade compliance accreditation.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
