Quality Inspector Senior – Electrical (Second Shift) - Millennium Space Systems

This position is for a Senior Electrical Quality Inspector at Millennium Space Systems (MSS), a part of Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS), located in El Segundo, California. The role code is Quality Inspector, grade 24. The position is 100% on‑site and primarily on 2nd shift.

Position Responsibilities

Read and interpret engineering drawings, models, specifications and perform inspections using tools such as calipers, micrometers, pin gauges, multimeters, UV light sources, microscopes, precision scales, and digital cameras to verify dimensional, electrical, and workmanship requirements.

Perform detailed receiving inspections of electrical and electronic components, assemblies, and subassemblies, including:

Printed Circuit Boards (PCB) and Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBA)

Conformal coating and staking applications

Electro‑mechanical assemblies

Wire harnesses and cable assemblies, including verification of routing, terminations, crimps, shielding, labeling, continuity, and workmanship

Review documentation such as Certificate of Conformance, test, process, material, dimensional, and First Article Inspection reports.

Accurately document inspection results, flag non‑conformances, and collaborate with quality and engineering teams on resolution.

Drive resolution of nonconforming material, ensuring timely MRB actions and cross‑team coordination.

Process inspection results and material transactions in the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.

Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, Production) to resolve issues and improve processes.

Assist in training quality and production personnel as needed to ensure compliance with product quality standards and quality system requirements.

Ensure all measurement and testing equipment is properly calibrated and operates within established tolerances.

Identify bottlenecks, process gaps, and select continuous improvement projects to enhance quality and/or efficiency.

Union

Hourly union‑represented position governed by the Cabinet Makers, Millmen and Industrial Carpenters Union (CMM&IC Local 721).

New hires and employees transferring from non‑union roles may be required to attend or complete training within their 90‑day probationary period. Continued employment is contingent on successful completion of the probationary period.

Shift
Primarily 2nd shift; candidates may be required to work any shift assigned to support program objectives.

Security Clearance
Requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance; U.S. citizenship is required. Interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret Clearance Post‑Start is required.

Travel
May require travel up to 5% of the time.

Relocation

Pay & Benefits
Pay range: $29.42 – $47.09 per hour. Compensation may include variable pay. Eligible employees can enroll in benefits including health insurance, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance, and paid or unpaid time off.

Basic Qualifications

Minimum high school diploma or GED.

More than 3 years of experience in Quality Assurance.

More than 3 years of experience in inspection.

More than 3 years of experience working with ESD, IPC J‑STD‑001 and IPC‑A‑610 standards.

More than 3 years of experience reading and understanding engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and specifications.

More than 1 year of experience using basic Microsoft Office and office computing systems.

Capable of lifting 20 lbs or more frequently.

Ability to stand and move (reach, bend, or stoop) to handle products for extended periods of time with only short breaks.

Preferred Qualifications

More than 1 year of experience reading and interpreting aerospace engineering drawings and blueprints.

More than 3 years of experience using electronic, dimensional and physical test equipment.

More than 3 years of experience with hand tools such as calipers, digital optical micrometers, depth gauges, thread gauges, go
o‑go gauges, etc.

More than 3 years of experience performing Material Review Board (MRB) product review.

More than 3 years of experience with Non‑conformance (NCR) processes.

Experience working with AS9100 and/or similar QMS standards.

Active IPC certification (610/620/600).
