A well-established Produce Importer/Distributor is searching for a Produce Buyer to join their team in Miami. The Produce Buyer is responsible for executing all buying activities to ensure consistent product availability, correct pricing, and efficient inventory flow. This role converts sourcing strategy into daily purchase decisions, aligned with sales demand, margin targets, and operational constraints.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Place purchase orders based on sales forecasts, inventory levels, and program commitments

Confirm pricing, volumes, and shipment details with suppliers before each shipment

Ensure all purchases follow sourcing agreements and approved supplier list

Adjust orders in real time based on changes in demand, quality, or supply conditions

Monitor daily inventory, aging, and rotation by product

Align inbound shipments with sales orders and warehouse capacity

Prevent overstock, shortages, and unnecessary shrink

Coordinate with operations on product readiness and handling requirements

Maintain daily communication with approved suppliers on orders, shipments, and issues

Track supplier performance on fill rate, quality, and reliability

Coordinate with logistics team on shipment schedules, arrivals, and documentation

Verify purchase prices against agreements and market conditions

Review and approve supplier invoices for accuracy

Work with accounting to resolve discrepancies, claims, and short payments

Support CFO with cost visibility, accruals, and cash flow planning related to purchases

Skills and Qualifications

5 to 10 years of experience in produce purchasing or supply chain

Strong understanding of perishable inventory management

Experience with import programs and domestic sourcing

High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple SKUs and shipments

Strong communication and negotiation skills

Experience with ERP systems, preferably Famous Software experience.

Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.
