Wheeling University is seeking a dedicated Graduate Assistant to support the Women’s Rugby Head Coach in the development and implementation of training programs for our collegiate women’s rugby team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in strength and conditioning with a passion for athletics and student development. While rugby experience is valued, we prioritize candidates with expertise in strength and conditioning to enhance the team’s physical performance and overall fitness levels.
Responsibilities:
Assist the Head Coach in planningorganizingand executing strength and conditioning sessions tailored to the needs of the women’s rugby team.
Design and implement individualized training programs to improve playersstrength, speed, agility, and endurance.
Monitor and evaluate players’progress and performance during training sessions and competitions.
Collaborate with the coaching staff to integrate strength and conditioning principles into overall team strategy and player development.
Provide guidance and support to student-athletes on proper nutrition, injury prevention, and recovery techniques.
Assist with recruitment effortsincluding scouting potential student-athletes and coordinating campus visits and recruitment events.
Perform administrative tasks as assigned by the Head Coach to ensure the smooth operation of the women’s rugby program.
Supports and promotes the University’s sports programs.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’sdegree required. Admission to Wheeling University’s graduate program is required (please see graduate program offerings for eligibility).
One year of collegiate playing experience is required.
Maintain a 3.0 GPA throughout the entirety of graduate program.
Must have a valid driver's license.
Must be able to meet all NCAA compliance rules and regulations, certifications and trainings.
Compensation Package:
Full tuition remission for up to 18 credit hours per academic year (must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours per semester).
$3,500 stipend paid in monthly installments in accordance with the University’s payroll schedule.
Room (single or double) based on availability.
Position runs from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027.
