About the Role
As an Associate Accounting Professional, you'll be at the forefront of ensuring our financial compliance across multiple state jurisdictions. You'll manage critical reporting requirements, develop specialized knowledge in Property and Casualty insurance compliance, and build valuable relationships with regulatory agencies.
Key Responsibilities
Data Management:
Mine system data for required state reporting, ensuring accuracy and completeness
Regulatory Filings:
Prepare and file premium tax returns, data calls, surcharge reports, and guaranty fund payments
Financial Tracking:
Monitor guaranty fund credits, premium tax refunds, and credits with precision
Reconciliation:
Prepare related account reconciliations to maintain financial accuracy
Stakeholder Communication:
Engage with State Insurance Departments and related state agencies regarding required filings
Cross-functional Collaboration:
Maintain open communication with the financial compliance team and other Swiss Re departments
About the Team
You’ll be joining a specialized Financial Compliance team that works directly with state insurance departments and related regulatory agencies. Based in Kansas City, the team consists of three professionals reporting to the Hiring Manager. As part of Corporate Solutions Finance - Financial Compliance, you’ll collaborate with colleagues who are dedicated to ensuring regulatory excellence across our operations.
About You
You’re a methodical professional who pays close attention to detail while maintaining a big-picture understanding of compliance requirements. You take ownership of your work, meet deadlines consistently, and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels. Your analytical mindset allows you to identify potential issues before they become problems.
We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements
College graduate with BA or BS in Accounting with at least 2 years of relevant working experience
Knowledge of finance and accounting principles with demonstrated ability to apply them in practical settings
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data accurately
Proven attention to detail and ability to review returns for reasonableness and identify issues
Experience with data mining and financial reporting
These are additional nice to haves
Experience in insurance industry, particularly in property and casualty
Knowledge of state insurance regulatory requirements
Proficiency with financial compliance software and data management tools
Experience communicating with regulatory agencies
Process improvement mindset with ability to identify efficiency opportunities
The position will be located in our Kansas City, MO office. Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office at least three days per week.
The estimated base salary range for this position is $52,000 to $78,000. The specific salary offered for this, or any given role will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to job location, scope of role, qualifications, complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent, experience, education, and employer budget. This means that we consider all components of compensation in their totality (such as base pay, short-and long-term incentives, and benefits offered), in setting individual compensation.
