Clinical Research Study Assistant I - Otolaryngology

Position Summary
The Clinical Outcomes Research Office is an internationally recognized full‑service research enterprise. Housed under the Department of Otolaryngology, the office provides investigators and trainees support in the design, execution and analysis of research studies with the ultimate goal of making a positive impact on people’s lives. Under the leadership of Jay F. Piccirillo, MD, the office also conducts research studies and clinical trials to advance patient care. Jay Piccirillo, MD has been conducting research in the field for more than 30 years. His ongoing research studies seek to improve patient care across a number of otolaryngology conditions. The office supports investigators at the WashU School of Medicine, as well as researchers throughout the world who want to collaborate with WashU. More than half of the research projects supported by the office involve multiple disciplines. The faculty and staff of the Clinical Outcomes Research office are committed to providing high‑quality training for future investigators. Undergraduate students, medical students, residents, fellows, new faculty, and research staff all benefit from the guidance and expertise of the Clinical Outcomes Office.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Maintain and update site demographics in the computer database; log forms received and file as appropriate; prepare reports from the database to include weekly reports and other reports as requested.

Receive and disseminate study‑related regulatory documents and correspondence; assist in screening documents for completeness and compliance with protocol and appropriate regulations; investigate incomplete, inaccurate or missing documents to ensure data accuracy and completeness.

Communicate and coordinate with other study personnel as required to include data entry and randomization of personnel, pharmacy, laboratories, study sponsors and others as needed for study implementation and routine problem resolution.

Attend routine meetings and other meetings related to the clinical research; stay abreast of information and any changes to study protocol.

Education & Experience
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent, or a combination of education and/or experience.

Work Experience
Customer Service (1 year).

Preferred Qualifications
No additional education unless stated elsewhere. Medical customer service (1 year). Skills: clerical skills, database management, data collection methods, data entry, detail‑oriented, high accuracy, information organization, interpersonal communication, researching.

Grade and Salary
Grade: C06‑H
Salary Range: $17.34 - $25.40 per hour.
