RN Registered Nurse - Full Time NIGHTS

Job Summary
Full Time, 40 hours per week. 10:45 p.m. – 7:15 a.m. night shift. Works every other weekend and on a holiday rotation. Shift differential on top of base pay for night shift and for working Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a diploma or degree.

Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Virginia.

CPR/AED certification.

At least 2 years of nursing experience.

Job Duties

Responsible for the total nursing services of assigned residents.

Receives report from off‑going shift, gives report to on‑coming shift and makes rounds.

Receives physician orders and carries out orders according to established policies and procedures.

Makes shift rounds with physicians.

Knowledgeable of residents’ conditions. Reports significant changes to the assigned supervisor and/or physician.

Responds to emergency calls of residents as assigned.

Administers medications in accordance with regulations and policies.

Administers treatments according to physicians’ orders; administers subcutaneous fluids; RN administers intravenous fluids unless LPN has had specialized training; monitors residents receiving IV fluids.

Implements established resident care policies and procedures.

Orders and stores medications according to pharmaceutical policies and procedures; contacts supervisor or director of nursing if questions arise; implements stop‑order policy; removes outdated medications.

Maintains current regulated drug records in accordance with state and federal laws.

Maintains and revises nursing care plans and service plans of assigned residents.

Maintains residents’ clinical records in accordance with established policies.

Supervises and evaluates assigned CNAs and medication aides, including resident assignments and additional duties such as cleaning baths and linen rooms.

Ensures equipment functions properly and a safe environment is maintained; promptly completes maintenance request forms.

Records required information in electronic medical records per established procedures; records monthly summaries, vitals, and diet changes.

Assesses resident injuries, renders first aid, or makes decisions for appropriate referral to physician or ER; completes incident reports.

Maintains a physical, social, and psychological environment conducive to resident well‑being using the neighborhood/household model; encourages socialization and rehabilitation.

Attends mandatory in‑service education and completes assigned Relias/Learning in‑services on the computer.

Attends nursing team meetings and keeps supervisor and director of nursing informed of concerns.

Assists nursing assistants with residents’ care when necessary (bathe, feed, etc.).

Performs any other duties assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Intermediate conceptual knowledge of nursing theories, practices, and procedures.

Intermediate verbal and written communication skills.

Work‑level knowledge of common disease processes and treatments.

Clinical skills sufficient to perform all essential job duties.

Ability to read, write, and speak in English.

Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with multiple tasks.

Ability to see, hear, and react appropriately to alarms and notifications.

Computer knowledge and aptitude for learning company software.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

May include frequent lifting up to 50 lbs.

Capable of sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, reaching, turning, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, and fine manipulation.

Physically able to carry, transfer, push, pull, and reposition residents with assistance or appropriate equipment.

Ability to work inside and outside to make rounds and respond to emergencies.

Normal eyesight (can use corrective lenses).

Ability to hear and distinguish normal tones.

Universal staffing, holiday, inclement weather, and flexible work schedule required.

Exposure to sights, sounds, and odors of a health services environment including senior citizens with serious cognitive loss.

Supervision and Decision Making Exercised

Moderate level of guidance; work reviewed at critical points.

Independent decisions made on standard policies.

Ability to develop and carry out resident plans and guide team members.

Problem‑solving complex; may collaborate with senior nurses.

Recognize and handle difficult problems; supervise team members accordingly.
