Responsible for identifying potential and existing drug-related problems and taking appropriate actions to prevent or resolve them. Responsible for meeting all objectives for a resident in pharmacy practice as outlined by ASHP. Maintain/enhance pharmacotherapeutic skills through the reading of primary literature, national guidelines and/or medical references. Performs related duties as assigned. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Position Overview
The Pharmacy Resident is responsible for supporting the effective daily operations of departmental services and programs. This role involves identifying and addressing potential or existing drug-related problems and taking appropriate action to prevent or resolve them. The resident will meet all pharmacy practice residency objectives as outlined by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) while continuously developing pharmacotherapeutic knowledge and clinical skills. All duties are performed in alignment with Mercy’s mission, values, and Service Standards.
Key Responsibilities
Provide pharmaceutical care and support daily pharmacy operations
Identify, prevent, and resolve medication-related problems
Meet all ASHP PGY1 residency program objectives
Maintain and enhance pharmacotherapy knowledge through review of primary literature, national guidelines, and medical references
Perform assigned projects, clinical activities, and related duties
Handle and dispose of site-generated hazardous waste in compliance with policies
Comply with all applicable Federal, State, and Local regulations
Education & Licensure Requirements
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited college of pharmacy
Pharmacy licensure in the state of practice within 120 days of hire
Missouri: Medication Therapy Services (MTS) certification within 120 days of hire
Skills & Competencies
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Effective verbal and non-verbal communication skills
Professional, caring, and customer-focused approach in all interactions with patients, families, visitors, and colleagues
Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic healthcare environment
Ability to complete departmental orientation and age-specific competencies within the first three months of employment
