Position Summary
PGY1 Pharmacy Resident – Brooklyn. The New York University Langone Health (NYULH) Pharmacy Residency (PGY1) is a 12‑month program that provides a resident with an intensive, individualized experience in the inpatient setting. The goal is to develop the skills necessary to provide a high level of pharmaceutical care across a variety of practice settings. The resident will be an integral member of the medical team, collaborating on patient care, participating in medical emergencies, and providing pharmacotherapeutic, pharmacokinetic, and pharmaco‑economics consultation. Upon completion, the pharmacist will be prepared to practice as a competent general pharmacy practitioner. The program follows the guidelines and accreditation standards of the American Society of Health‑System Pharmacy (ASHP).

Job Responsibilities

Integrate core values and mission of NYU Langone Health into daily duties.

Develop and maintain a high‑level clinical pharmacy practice.

Participate in multidisciplinary bedside rounds.

Provide pharmacotherapeutic, pharmacokinetic, and pharmaco‑economics consultation.

Respond to medical emergencies: airway, stroke, and acute coronary syndrome pager calls.

Compile patient admission histories.

Engage in transition‑of‑care activities.

Conduct patient and caregiver medication counseling.

Take part in educational initiatives.

Oversee quality assurance of clinical pharmacy programs to enhance patient care quality.

Contribute to professional development of pharmacy staff, including pharmacists and clinical pharmacists.

Identify and develop policies and procedures that optimize pharmacy operations while meeting accreditation standards and regulations.

Evaluate and report on patient‑encounter productivity metrics, and propose methods to improve efficiency.

Develop and implement clinical practice guidelines to enhance pharmaceutical care and medication safety.

Document and report clinical interventions, adverse drug reactions, and medication errors.

Participate in hospital committees as assigned by the Director of Clinical Pharmacy Services.

Provide expertise for Medication Use Evaluations.

Maintain professional competency and certification.

Additional Responsibilities

Longitudinal responsibilities including on‑call duty, staffing, and code response.

Meet ASHP residency requirements as outlined in the residency contract.

Qualifications and Licensure

Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE‑accredited College of Pharmacy; licensure or eligibility for licensure in the State of New York.

Preferred Licenses: Pharmacy Intern Permit‑NYS, Pharmacist License‑NYS.

Effective communication skills with all levels of the organization.

Salary Range
Salary range: $48,750.00 – $54,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The listed salary does not include bonuses, incentive pay, differential pay, or other forms of compensation.
