Classification: Extension Educator I (FLSA Exempt); FTE: 1.00. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent.
Summary
The 4-H County Extension Educator is an exempt professional staff role within UGA Cooperative Extension responsible for the delivery of the 4-H program within the assigned county. A high level of independent judgment is required to carry out essential duties and the incumbent will manage both 4-H education delivery and Extension program administration by developing techniques and procedures as appropriate. This role works cooperatively with all Extension faculty and staff where applicable and is administratively responsible to the County Extension Coordinator and the District Extension Director.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And/or Competencies
Good communication skills — oral and written.
Knowledge of Cooperative Extension 4-H program activities.
Physical Demands
Some degree of physical activity, including lifting, to conduct programs (e.g., handling animals, supplies and demonstration materials, audio/visual equipment).
Some standing and/or sitting for various lengths of time.
Exposure to various seasonal weather conditions for outside activities.
Driving to perform job-related duties.

Duties and Responsibilities
Duties grouped by time allocation:
55% — Delivers in-school 4-H programming to enrolled 4-H members; conducts in-school club meetings; promotes 4-H events; delivers Georgia Professional Standards-based curriculum; reviews program evaluations to improve future delivery.
20% — Develops procedures for managing youth activities; handles sign-up, paperwork, parent relations, on-site supervision, and counseling for county youth at camp; coordinates with home-school 4-H club members to ensure equal opportunities.
15% — Identifies, recruits, and helps train 4-H volunteers; supports 4-H chaperone training across divisions (Archery, Shotgun, Horse Club, Show Teams).
10% — Produces reports to clientele, staff, boards, and the public; ensures timely submissions to Georgia Counts, 4-H enrollment, and District office; manages 4-H inventory and supplies including fundraising and demonstration materials.
