Driller (Rotary and Geoprobe)

Job Overview
Hana Engineers and Consultants LLC is hiring a full‑time driller (rotary and geoprobe) to support our environmental investigation, monitoring, and remediation programs. The role reports to the Ashland, VA office.
Responsibilities
Operate rotary drill rigs (hollow stem auger, mud rotary, air rotary) and geoprobe equipment to conduct subsurface investigations and environmental drilling.
Guide and train drilling assistants and technicians to maintain efficient and safe operations.
Perform routine preventive maintenance on drilling equipment; identify and troubleshoot issues.
Maintain accurate records of daily logs, equipment maintenance, and drilling activities.
Work independently and in small teams, traveling as required (75% overnight travel).
Required Qualifications
Minimum 3 years experience as a driller in environmental or geotechnical drilling.
Proficiency operating rotary drill rigs and geoprobe.
Strong leadership, communication, and training skills.
Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly and work in various weather conditions.
Valid driver’s license; passes DOT physical and federal background check.
High school diploma required; additional certifications in drilling operations are a plus.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
Class A CDL.
Experience operating sonic drill rigs.
40‑hour OSHA HAZWOPER training.
Basic welding skills or mechanical aptitude.
Compensation
$28.00 – $38.00 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications; overtime pay (1.5×); per diem pay during travel.
Work Hours & Location
40 hours per week; location: in person at Ashland, VA office.
