Toolroom Machinist – Manual Lathes/Mills (Tungsten Alloys)
Mi-Tech Tungsten Metals, LLC, Indianapolis, IN, United States
Do you thrive running a manual lathe solo? Mi-Tech Tungsten Metals is seeking a hands-on Toolroom Machinist who can independently turn prints into precision metal parts. If you’re comfortable moving from setup to first-article to steady production—without constant oversight—this could be your next shop home.
What you’ll tackle
Set up and operate manual lathes confidently—change chucks, set machine heads, sweep tables, and align work.
Cut, drill, mill, bore, and broach components to specification from work orders, blueprints, drawings, templates, and layouts.
Handle OD/ID turning, tapping, threading, and reaming for tight-tolerance features.
Execute face, angular, form, straddle, and gang milling using appropriate tooling and attachments.
Use indexing strategies—direct, plain/simple, compound, differential, and angular—to achieve precise divisions and patterns.
Indicate vises and workpieces, verify setups, and coordinate multi-step machining operations.
You’ll excel here if you…
Read mechanical drawings fluently and plan efficient machining sequences.
Are adept with arbors, adapters, collets, vises, rotary/circular tables, indexing heads, tailstocks, and vertical milling attachments.
Rely on metrology—calipers, micrometers, height gages, indicators, comparators—to validate every cut.
Bring steady hands, keen eyes, and a problem-solver’s mindset to every job.
Enjoy collaborating with a capable, supportive team.
Background we’re looking for
2–5 years of manual machining experience in a manufacturing environment.
Better-than-average math skills for layouts, feeds/speeds, and indexing calculations.
Nice to have

NMIS machine technology certifications or comparable education.
