Manual Machinist (Lathe & Mill) Job Type: Full-Time | Temporary-to-Hire Location: On-site
Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Manual Machinist to join our team. This role is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining manual machining equipment, with a focus on manual lathes and mills. The ideal candidate takes pride in precision work, understands machining fundamentals, and can produce high-quality components with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Machine Setup & Operation
Set up and operate manual lathes and milling machines with minimal supervision
Select proper tooling, speeds, and feeds based on material and specifications
Align fixtures and securely position components for machining
Machining & Production
Perform operations including drilling, tapping, boring, milling, and reaming
Machine parts to tight tolerances with a high level of accuracy
Cut stems and indicate parts efficiently and accurately
Load materials into fixtures, jigs, or between centers as required
Quality Control & Tooling
Inspect machined parts to ensure they meet specifications and quality standards
Identify worn or damaged tools and replace or adjust as needed
Maintain proper tool performance to ensure consistent production quality
Tool Crib & Equipment Maintenance
Monitor and maintain tool crib inventory (mini and kitted tools)
Ensure tools are available, organized, and in good working condition
Safety & Communication
Follow all company safety standards and procedures
Report equipment issues or irregularities to supervision promptly
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Team Support
Assist in other departments or production areas as needed
Adapt to changing production demands and priorities
Qualifications
Proven experience as a Manual Machinist or similar role
Strong experience with manual lathe, mill, and drill press
Ability to work within tight tolerances
Solid understanding of machining techniques and material properties
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team
