Position Summary
The Metabolic and Bariatric Program Coordinator Registered Nurse (RN) supports and manages the coordination, facilitation, and operational execution of the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Programs at Health First. The Coordinator works to validate and maintain alignment with accreditation, quality, and patient experience standards, and collaborates with leadership, surgeons, clinical, and operational teams to deliver education, care navigation, data management, support groups, and program activities, ensuring a safe, compliant, and patient‑centered program across the Health First Integrated Delivery Network (IDN).
Primary Accountabilities
Oversee coordination and activities for bariatric patients, ensuring alignment with accreditation and regulatory requirements across pre‑, peri‑, and post‑operative phases.
Coordinate and deliver patient education including pre‑operation, nutrition, and post‑operation expectations and care pathways.
Facilitate support groups by scheduling, tracking attendance, building curriculum, and ensuring licensed participants.
Support program adherence to accreditation and regulatory standards; collaborate with leadership and registry stakeholders for timely follow‑ups, data collection, and outcome reporting.
Analyze data and trends to inform quality improvement initiatives related to outcomes, experience, and care processes.
Partner with Enterprise Revenue Cycle Teams to coordinate patient insurance, financial clearance, and billing compliance.
Educate staff on bariatric patient needs, equipment, care pathways, and post‑operative complications.
Ensure equipment and supply readiness; maintain program documentation and internal communication.
Serve as a community resource by coordinating education and outreach activities in partnership with leadership and Marketing.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Associate’s degree in Nursing (ASN) or Nursing Diploma.
Work Experience: None.
Licensure: Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the State of Florida.
Certification: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) Healthcare Provider Completion Card, maintained.
Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
Strong patient education, communication, and coordination skills.
Ability to travel to various Health First facilities and work in different environments across the IDN.
Ability to interpret clinical information and support outcomes tracking and quality initiatives.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and follow‑through.
Preferred Qualifications
Three years’ experience in surgical, bariatric, or relevant specialty program coordination.
Physical Requirements
Majority of time involves sitting or standing, with occasional walking, bending, and stooping.
Long periods of computer use at a workstation.
Light weight lifting up to 20 pounds, with or without assistance.
Exposure to varied indoor temperatures, air quality, lighting, and low‑to‑moderate noise.
Communicating with others to exchange information.
Visual acuity and hand‑eye coordination required for tasks.
Workplace may vary from open to confined spaces.
May require travel to facilities outside the county perimeter and use of personal vehicle.
