Position Summary
The Program Coordinator, Outreach & Engagement for the Master of Interdisciplinary Studies (MIS) program supports the administrative, recruitment, and operational functions of a dynamic interdisciplinary graduate program in the Susanne M. Glasscock School of Continuing Studies (GSCS). This role plays a key part in recruiting prospective students, supporting admissions communications and application-related workflows, and managing program operations.
In partnership with the MIS Director, the Program Coordinator collaborates with the GSCS marketing team to support the development and execution of marketing strategies and promotional materials that enhance program visibility and drive prospective student engagement.

Workplace Requirements
This position may be offered as a hybrid role and may combine both in-office and remote work. Remote work opportunities may be extended following the successful conclusion of the probationary period. Local and regional travel is required for recruiting events. Some weekend and evening work hours may be required. Some out-of-town travel is required.
Proposed Hiring Range
$28.85–$29.81 per hour. Non‑Exempt (hourly) positions under FLSA are eligible for overtime.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
Two or more (≥2) years of experience in higher education, recruitment, public relations, student services, academic administration, or a related field
Skills
Strong organizational and time‑management skills with the ability to manage multiple processes and deadlines simultaneously
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to support and contribute to marketing and recruitment initiatives
Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a university environment
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in academic and administrative processes
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite
Experience with databases, CRM systems, or student information systems (e.g., Slate, HubSpot, Banner), or ability to learn quickly
Experience with project‑management software, or ability to learn quickly
Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality when working with sensitive recruitment and program information
Preferences
Three to five years of related experience
Experience recruiting or supporting students in a graduate or interdisciplinary program
Familiarity with interdisciplinary learning and adult or professional student populations
Experience planning events or workshops
Experience with data analysis or reporting for enrollment, assessment, or program improvement
Comfort working in dynamic, evolving program environments with changing priorities
Ability to build relationships and influence others without authority of position
Essential Functions
Prospective Student Engagement
Serves as a primary point of contact for prospective students
Manages inquiry communications, event coordination, and supports application‑related workflows
Tracks prospect data, enrollment trends, and supports the Director with analysis
Marketing, Recruitment & Program Events
Works with the GSCS marketing team to support the implementation of marketing strategies and campaigns for MIS
Assists in compiling marketing and enrollment insights to inform recruitment planning
Prepares recruitment materials and supports CRM management
Supports outreach initiatives involving campus, community, and corporate partners
Coordinates logistics for orientations, workshops, capstone presentations, information sessions, and other program events
Prepares presentations, handouts, and related materials as needed
Maintains professional contact outside the university with prospective students, alumni, community and corporate partners, and friends of Rice University, often in person or virtually, with appropriate follow‑up
Other Duties
Collaborate with the Director on operational improvements and process efficiency
Partners with GSCS administrative teams to support program functions
Supports special projects as assigned
