The Facilities Maintenance Supervisor supports the PCPF Operations & Maintenance department at MD Anderson Cancer Center, which provides mission‑critical facilities and infrastructure support for continuous, 24/7 operations. The Facilities Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the safe maintenance, repair, and operation of plant equipment and utility systems, supervising skilled trades staff, and ensuring reliable performance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems that directly support patient care and institutional operations. The Facilities Maintenance Supervisor balances hands‑on field oversight with administrative leadership to ensure safety, compliance, and operational excellence.

The ideal candidate is experienced in healthcare facilities maintenance and brings prior supervisory or lead experience overseeing plant operations and utility systems. This individual demonstrates a strong safety mindset, sound real‑time decision‑making, and the ability to lead front‑line staff while managing administrative responsibilities such as metrics, documentation, and compliance. A successful candidate is hands‑on, collaborative, and decisive, with strong communication skills and working knowledge of MEP systems, regulatory requirements, and maintenance management processes.

Salary: Minimum $92,500.00 – Midpoint $115,500.00 – Maximum $138,500.00

The typical work schedule is Wednesday – Saturday weekend night shifts, full onsite presence required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Operations & Maintenance Oversight

Supervise the safe maintenance, repair, and replacement of plant equipment and utility systems.

Ensure efficiency, productivity, and reliability of assigned infrastructure and MEP systems.

Supervise preventive maintenance processes and improve PM frequencies to enhance effectiveness.

Provide oversight of special systems including pneumatic tube, trash, and linen systems as assigned.

Staff Supervision & Workforce Management

Supervise daily workload of craft and maintenance technicians.

Effectively schedule work, manage shift coverage, and ensure proper hand‑off of backlog.

Manage employee workload, document staff performance, and track productivity metrics.

Provide input on hiring, evaluations, promotions, and training completion.

Work Order, Budget & Vendor Management

Ensure accurate labor and material documentation on all A and PM work orders.

Supervise work order status, time sheet accuracy, and asset accountability.

Monitor service contracts and negotiate with vendors and contractors.

Maintain assigned operating budget within +/- 2% variance and manage overtime within guidelines.

Customer Response, Compliance & Emergency Support

Manage customer response and communicate daily to ensure quality service with minimal callbacks.

Maintain interdepartmental relationships to maximize responsiveness to operational needs.

Supervise outages during assigned shift and support EOC program activities.

Provide leadership support for Joint Commission readiness and compliance initiatives.

Coordination & Continuous Improvement

Collaborate closely with other shifts, departments, Planner/Scheduler, and WCC team.

Track workload and schedule compliance using established metrics.

Lead support for energy initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.

Serve as essential personnel and respond to emergency events as required.

EDUCATION

Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Preferred: Associate's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related field.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Required: 5 years in one or more craft areas including three years lead/supervisory experience.

Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate and/or LEADing Self Discover programs may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience. Completion of both programs can be substituted for a maximum of two years of supervisory or management experience.

Preferred: Ability to work within the Microsoft Windows environment and experience working within a CMMS environment.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

Preferred: Texas Drivers License Valid Class A, B or C; Texas driver's license and eligibility to drive State and institutional vehicles. Upon Hire.

Preferred: Journeyman's license in one craft. Upon Hire.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Must pass pre‑employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
