The Facilities Operations Center Coordinator at MD Anderson's Cancer Center supports the Joint Commission and Emergency & Continuity Planning team by serving as a central point of coordination for facilities operations, emergency response, and institutional communication. The Facilities Operations Center Coordinator works within the Facilities Operations Center, the 24/7 operational hub for facilities across the institution. In this highly visible role, the Facilities Operations Center Coordinator supports emergency coordination, critical system monitoring, and enterprise-wide communication that directly impacts patient safety and continuity of care.

This individual demonstrates strong communication skills, attention to detail, and confidence managing multiple priorities while working collaboratively with technical teams, leadership, and building occupants in both routine and emergency situations.
Salary: Minimum $47,000 - Midpoint $58,500 - Maximum $70,000 annually. The typical work schedule is 1:00 PM - 9:30 PM, with rotating days off every 8 weeks to support 24/7 operations. Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as part of the rotation is required. Work location: Primarily onsite.

Key Responsibilities
Emergency Response & Communication
Respond to emergency situations and activate emergency plans and activities
Send messages through institutional emergency communication software
Update the institutional RING and EPO lines as required
Monitor area weather conditions and communicate impacts
Answer emergency elevator phone calls and coordinate response
Facilities Operations Coordination
Serve as communication triage for Facilities Management groups when needed
Answer and respond to customers needing assistance with facilities services
Receive, schedule, and process work orders
Document customer requests and ensure resolution
Adjust temperature calls in patient rooms
Monitoring & Systems Oversight
Monitor and respond to system and equipment outages and alarms
Notify departments of outages or operational impacts
Update and maintain the Facilities State of Operations
Maintain emergency and operational databases
Compliance, Drills & Preparedness
Support inspections, drills, and emergency preparedness activities
Assist with review and approval of institutional safety policies
Develop technical briefings on safety or emergency preparedness as needed
Education
Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Preferred: Bachelor's Degree
Work Experience
Required: Two years of experience in an emergency center, dispatch, facilities, or physical plant call center.
Preferred Experience: Previous experience in a plant/maintenance environment. Alarm monitoring, utilizing two-way radio or some form of dispatch communication, experience with emergency management. Strong communication skills when interacting with coworkers, patients, technicians, and internal/external customers.
