Granite Hills Hospital is seeking a talented and dynamic Intake Clinician to join our team of dedicated healthcare professionals!
Shift/s: Nights, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM with availability for weekends.
Join a dynamic team of leading professionals dedicated to coordination of all admission processes and serving as a clinical liaison to community referral sources, physician referrals, families, and individuals in the growing field of behavioral health at our new hospital, Granite Hills Hospital. Intake/Admissions Clinician includes responding to inquiry calls, referrals, and crisis behavioral health patient needs; following processes in reviewing referrals, completing clinical and suicide assessments, and working with physicians through to possible admission. The Intake/Admissions Clinician is the initial contact with potential patients and referral sources, coordinates the referral and intake process, facilitates the admission process, and maintains communication with referral sources, families, patients, and unit staff. The Intake/Admissions Clinician is responsible for the verification and prior authorization of insurance benefits as needed.
Responsibilities include working with a team of Intake/Admission professionals to clinically assess potential patients, verifying insurance, medically triaging patients, completing assessments, entering calls and admissions into computer as well as documentation, staffing clinical with physician, and completing paperwork and process through to possible admission. Following all regulatory requirements, facility policies and procedure, and a culture based on service excellence.
Qualifications
Job Requirements:
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to prioritize and work well under periods of high stress and pressure.
Ability to multi‑task and demonstrate critical thinking skills.
Understanding of funding entities and psychiatric services provided by the hospital.
Flexible work hours and basic understanding of computers; accurate data entry skills.
Knowledge of insurance contracts and payors, pre‑certification for inpatient hospitalization.
Experience gathering and documenting medical and clinical information to assess and staff appropriately with physician.
Ability to triage for psychiatric needs and working knowledge of DSM‑V diagnostic criteria, mental status exam, and suicidality.
Excellent customer service skills, including supportive and constructive communication with coworkers, patients, visitors, families, and referral sources.
BLS certification and Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification training required; may be obtained during new employee orientation.
Education
Master’s Degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work or Human Services field. Licensed RN, LCSW, LPC, LMFT preferred.
Experience
Minimum of one to two (1‑2) years of experience in psychiatric health care. Working knowledge of DSM‑V diagnostic criteria, mental status exam, and clinical assessments.
