Job Description
Dr. Paul de Figueiredo's lab in the Bond Life Sciences Center is seeking a Research Specialist II to contribute to research focused on microbiology.
Responsibilities
Adherence to Protocols and Safety Guidelines
Follow established laboratory protocols and safety guidelines rigorously.
Maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
Precise Record Keeping and Data Management
Pay meticulous attention to detail.
Maintain accurate records and manage data effectively.
Keep detailed and organized laboratory notebooks.
Collaboration and Independence
Work both independently and collaboratively with other lab members.
Provide assistance and training to fellow researchers as needed.
Laboratory Techniques
Prepare reagents for experiments.
Perform molecular biology techniques, including but not limited to DNA extraction, PCR, Rt-PCR, and gel electrophoresis.
Cultivate and maintain bacterial cultures.
Successful candidates will be persuasive communicators with exceptional organizational and time management skills. They must demonstrate the following durable skills: leadership, character, collaboration, communication, creativity, critical thinking, metacognition, mindfulness, growth mindset, and fortitude. Additionally, customer service, confidentiality, integrity, and a commitment to the university values.
Must be available for reliable and consistent onsite work.
Shift
Onsite, Monday through Friday, 8am - 5pm
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
Anticipated Hiring Range
Salary Range: $18.87 - $34.87 hourly
Grade: GGS-008
